HSO General Rules

*       Rehearsals start promptly at 7 PM. Please be in your seat, warmed up and ready to play at that time. Bring a pencil with a good eraser.

* Snow policy: When weather forces Liberty high school to close for the day, rehearsal will automatically be cancelled for that Monday night. Check the news, check the school website and if in doubt, get in touch with one of the board members.

*       If you cannot make it to a rehearsal you MUST notify Morgan Brown (503-641-2634), even if it is after the fact. Please call even if it is past Monday at 7 PM—we need to know. THANK YOU!

*       Please do not talk during rehearsals even if the conductor is working with another section. When tuning begins, that is a signal to be still and allow others to listen.

*    We are still young and growing. This means we still need some spots filled in. So, we appreciate any and all efforts at recruiting! However, our Director of Orchestra Personnel is ultimately responsible for this and, therefore, needs some control over the situation. So, please, if you know someone who wants to play, please refer them to Morgan - don’t just bring them to a rehearsal. That way she can get their contact information and if a position is not currently open for them she can put them on a waiting list, and nobody has to feel awkward or upset.

*       Music. Our music is borrowed from, or purchased for us, by some very nice and generous people. Help us stay in their good graces and protect the investment made in music for us, by marking your music lightly in pencil. Also keep your music in the folder provided and be sure to return your music upon completion of a performance or your departure from the group. If you do not return any parts in the same condition that you received them, or if you fail to return any part, you will be asked to reimburse HSO for the cost of replacing the part(s). The minimum cost of replacing a part is $5.00 per part, and many parts are much more expensive than this. So, please be careful.

*       **Concert dress is black.** Suits with black bow tie, black socks and black shoes for the gentlemen. Ladies, tea-length or longer skirt, or full-length pants and LONG sleeves, please!
